The Lloyd Hotel, situated in the heart of Amsterdam’s Oostelijk Havengebied (Eastern Harbour Area), is innovative in every way. The listed national monument, dating from 1921, has been converted into a hotel, and is now a true showcase for Dutch architecture and design. All 120 rooms - ranging in terms of luxury from a two-star to a five-star rating – are different in size and interior styling. The hotel has two restaurants – called Snel and Sloom, (best translated as brisk and leisurely) – a recording studio, a nomadic library and a kitchen for the use of those hotel guests who prefer to cook for their own visitors. The hotel’s Cultural Embassy will offer various services in the communal spaces.

The central feature of Lloyd Hotel is its Cultural Embassy. The mission of the Embassy is to open up Dutch art, culture and science for the guests of the hotel. By car, approaching from the A10 ring road:
Take exit S114 (Zeeburg/Centrum/Artis) and follow the signs for the centre. It will lead you into the Piet Hein tunnel,keep to the right hand lane. When you exit the tunnel turn right at the lights, onto the Piet Heinkade. Turn right at the first lights. The road takes a sharp turn to the right, you are now on the Oostelijke Handelskade. If you wish to park in the parking garage, you turn right into the garage after the second building. If not, keep going straight ahead along the Oostelijke Handelskade. The Lloyd Hotel is located 400 metres along on the right hand side. Public transport from Central Station: Take bus 326, called Ijburg. Your stop is called Rietlandpark (100 metres from the Lloyd Hotel). From December 2004 the express tram or sneltram will go as far as IJburg. Get on at Central Station and get off at the second stop, called Rietlandpark (100 metres from the Lloyd Hotel). |
