Hotel Estheréa is ideally located on one of the most beautiful and quiet canals in the centre of he city, only 300 metres from the Dam Square and the Royal Palace. Central Station, the most important shopping streets, museums and theatres are all within walking distance. Hidden behind an elegant 17th century facade is a comfortable four star hotel with 75 recently renovated rooms, all with bath, shower, toilet, hair dryer, (direct) telephone, colour television and a private safe. The hotel also has a lift, a lounge and bar. The Amsterdam Estherea Hotel has been a family owned hotel for 50 years.

Hotel Estheréa was founded during the second world war by Maria Flieger-Gruyters, mother of three daughters (she lost her husband Joseph in the war, and moved to Amsterdam to earn a living. She rented a house in which she started a small inn with 12 rooms). During the years after the war she had the possibility to buy neighbouring houses and expanded her inn.
Today, the Estheréa Hotel has 70 rooms spread over 6 houses (4 houses along the canal and 2 houses in the Spuistraat, all connected with each other). Unfortunately, Maria Flieger-Gruyters passed away in 1992 and one of her three daughters, Elly Esselaar-Flieger took over together with her husband Rob and her three children Jan-Willem, Caroline and Esther. Today the third generation is setting forth what Maria started more than 50 years ago. The buildings date from the 17th. century. The rooms are renovated approximately every 5 years. They are all equipped with a private bathroom, hairdryer, telephone, television, minibar and private safe. Our elevator reaches all rooms. The Estheréa also has a lounge with canal view and bar where coffee and tea is served free of charge for our guests from 7:30 till 22:00. You will also find foreign newspapers for sale and a small library with books in different languages that you can borrow during your stay. We have colouring books and pencils for our small guests as well as baby beds and a high chair in the breakfast room (all free of charge). |

From 7:00 till 10:00, breakfast is served in the breakfast room. We have a breakfast buffet with many different kinds of bread and rolls, muffins, muesli, yoghurt, milk, corn flakes, fresh fruit, fruit salad, dutch cheese, cream cheese, ham, different kinds of jam, honey, fruit juices, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, many different kinds of tea and coffee (normal coffee, espresso or cappuccino). If you prefer to have your breakfast privately, notify us and we will bring your first meal of the day to your room free of charge. At the reception desk we can help you check in, and out, send your mail or fax but our staff will also be happy to assist you in finding your way in Amsterdam (directions to museums or advice on restaurants in the neighbourhood for example).

How to reach us:
Airport At Schiphol airport, you can either take the Connexxion shuttle bus, the train or the taxi. The Shuttle bus leaves regularly from Schiphol and passes all the major hotels in Amsterdam. Costs: Euro 11,- per person. You can find taxi's just outside the arrival hall and this is the fastest way to reach the hotel. Costs: between Euro 35,- and 40,-. There is a train station right under the airport. Trains go every 20 minutes and will bring you to Amsterdam Central Station. Costs: Euro 4,- per person. From Central Station, you can either walk to the hotel (if your luggage allows it) or take at taxi (costs: Euro10,00). By Car If you bring your own car to Amsterdam, and reach the A10 (the highway that surrounds Amsterdam), take exit nr. S105 and follow the signs "centrum". When you reach the Singel canal, just before the Royal palace, turn right. Cross the second bridge to reach the other side and you will find us at house nr. 303-309. You can park your car in front of the hotel in order to unload your luggage. We will then give you directions to either a guarded parking nearby or public parking spots on the street. Please note that you have to buy a parking ticket in all the public parking areas. You will find parking meters in the streets. If you do not pay the parking, police will put a wheel clamp on your car and this is an expensive and unpleasant experience. At the reception we also sell parking tickets for the whole day |
